- In my previous writing , I
wrote about my intention to be a vegan for good . So here am I sharing my
experience as a vegan for almost 39 days as of today (11 Oct ) .
I have been an avid meat eater for almost 28
years ( my age secret revealed ) so changing to Veganism is a big deal to
both myself and my family members. It's until recently that I came
across Peta.org about the animal abuse and a book entitled China study
that I decided to experiment a change in my diet. I like to use the word
"experiment" so that there is less pressure to commit on vegan diet
psychologically :D . I decided to 'experiment' vegan diet for 30 days . If
thing goes awry , I can always switch back to my original meaty diet and
continue to enjoy my weekly KFC outing.
I have experienced juice fasting
before so changing to vegan diet wasn't really that difficult to me
personally. My meal mainly consists of rice, vegetable and fruits.
It's a little boring when I got started but nothing could beat my
determination to have a successful "30 days vegan experiment". My
family members did have a hard time seeing me eating meatless meal daily.
They kept nagging me that human aren't built to eat just vegetables like
cows and I would lack the necessary nutrient to stay healthy. They also
said that I shouldn't be so gullible to believe in book like the China
study and as a result, continuing to deprive myself from having proper and
delicious meal. To respond to their criticism and doubt , I tried to
share with them what I had learned from China study and the animal abuse
shown in Peta's video clip though they had little interest in knowing it .
On the third week , My family began to accept my stubborn and eccentric
vegan behavior and even attempted to adapt to predominantly vegetarian
diet after realizing that I lost about 6 pounds in 21 days.
I felt so good
mentally and physically on the 30th day that I decided to extend my vegan
experiment indefinitely until "further notice".
So what have I lost after 39 days of vegan diet ?
I lost about 8 pounds, the annoying intermittent tingling chest pain (mild
form of heart attack ? I don't know & i do not want to know ) and swollen
gum . In my article on juice fasting.
I said that my problematic gum was healed after having juice fasting
for just 4 days , but unfortunately, the problem came right back again
once I continued to my normal diet (compulsive eating) again .
So what have I gained ?
More stamina
and energy during routine exercise and stronger resistance toward cold and
allergy. I used to have bad cold once every two weeks, but now I only
experience a mild cold and after a while it gets better very fast!
Will I continue my vegan diet and when will i stop ?
Absolutely YES ! I clearly have no clue when will I stop!
What's next ?
I 'm going to experiment the combo of
vegan diet and Juice fasting and see if it's going to help me lose more
pounds =D !
